November 2011Members present: Kyle B. Troop 348, Nathan B. Troop 332, Matt H. Troop 332, Nick Z. Troop 348, Kevin H. Troop 320, Devon M. Troop 54 and Pirate Mike from Troop 348. The meeting began with the OA Obligation, then introductions. We next reviewed the flag retirement ceremony. The American flag retirement ceremony, which had been on October 15th had attending 7 OA members, 8 Volunteers and 4 different troops. 353 American, state and military flags were retired, with 81 total service hours sent to Scoutmasters. Next we reviewed the haunted trail. 6 Troops and 46 volunteers had assisted in this year’s haunted trail, which had the theme of a ghost town. The Native American cultural weekend will be March 2-4, all scouts are invited. OA members are reminded that OA dues will be starting in December and will be $10 per person, and can be paid at the Scout Office. Brotherhood conversion will be 2-4 PM, November 12 at Silverland Park, Highland. The fee is $16 per person. We need 17 Arrowmen to convert to become a Quality Lodge. All OA members are invited to attend the 2013 National Jamboree. Information regarding it may be found online. All OA members are invited to attend the OA Winter Banquet on January 7th, 2011, from 6 to 9 PM at American Legion, Collinsville. Tickets are $15 per person, and must be purchased before December 16th. The November LEC, November 17th, to be held at Klucker Hall in Shiloh. The OA voted on whether or not to adopt business cards. Nick Z. moved to vote and Matt H. seconded the movement. All were in favor of adopting business cards. The OA then voted on if we should make the December meeting an off-site meeting. To be held at the Red Bud Pizza Hut. Matt H. motioned to vote and Nick Z. seconded the movement. All were enthusiastically in favor of meeting at pizza hut. 2012 Arrow of Light/Cross over ceremonies were discussed. Dates are being accepted, ceremonies teams need to be formed. Troop scouts are encouraged to assist. The OA then discussed Chairman Positions. It is believed that Ethan D. will be the Arrow of Light/Cross Over Ceremonies Chairman. Kevin H. volunteered to be the Brotherhood Conversion Chairman and Nick Z. volunteered to be the Haunted Trail Chairman. We then discussed our need to start planning our 2012 Troop OA elections. Several scouts who had gone to Philmont Scout Ranch with the OA strongly encouraged the rest of the OA to take advantage of the OA High Adventure program. The meeting closed with the OA song. 7 members participated in the November 3rd meeting. |
| National Trails Day |
Once again this year Nisha Kittan Lodge has decided to partner with the American Hiking Society to host a National Trails Day by providing service and improvements to the Camp Vandeventer Eagle Trail. The service day will be held June 1, 2013 beginning at 9:00 AM and conclude around 3:00 PM. Participants should provide their own sack lunch and water for the day. Anyone with questions or needing additional information can contact Special Events Chairman Colton R. or his advisor Gary Williams.
