Michigamea Chapter

OA Meeting
September 1^st, 2011

Members present:  Rich D. Troop 323, Charles P. Troop 347, Bradley B. Troop 347, Austin M. Troop 348, Kevin H. Troop 320, Chris and Chris McN. Troop 323, Connor F. Troop 622, Zachary R. Troop 320 and Pirate Mike from Troop 348.

The meeting started off with the regular Round Table members.  The OA was given time at the opening to give recognition to Scouts that had just accomplished the Fall Reunion. Scouts that had just received either their Ordeal or Brotherhood status at the Fall Reunion received certificates from the Michigamea Chapter for their accomplishments.

It was announced that the Michigamea Chapter will be having their annual American, State, POW and Military Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Waterloo Sportsman’s Club on October 15^th at 9:00 A.M. All Scouts and Packs from the Kaskaskia District are welcome to come and participate.  And of course bring flags as well.

Troop 348 and the Michigamea Chapter will be participating in the Waterloo Sportsman’s Club Haunted Trail.  Work Days are September 10^th, 17^th & 24^th starting at 8:00 AM and running until 3:30 PM.  Please bring tools if you have them. Lunch will be provided.  Actual Haunted Trail and Hayride is scheduled for October 7/8, 14/15, and 21/22 with clean-up/tear-down on the 23^rd.  Show-up time will be 5:30 PM on Friday night and 5:00 PM or earlier on Saturday.  If Scouts can participate on both nights then plan on sleeping over, bring your own tent and sleeping items.  Food will be provided. Otherwise you’ll have to have your parents pick you up after the trail.

Kaskaskia District Fall Camporee is scheduled for September 16 – 18 at the Millstadt Quail Club. The Michigamea Chapter will be building and MC’ing the Saturday night campfire.  The chapter will be collecting Song and Skits from all troops participating at the event.

The Native American Cultural Weekend is scheduled for March 2 – 4, 2012.  All Scouts are invited.

Reminder- OA dues will be starting as of December.

Sectional c-3B Conclave is October 14 – 16, held at Camp Lewallen, Silva MO.

Michigamea Chapter is taking orders for Hats & T-Shirts: Hats are $16 and T-shirts costs: Small – Large = $10 and XLG – 5XLG $12.

Michigamea Chapter held its annual elections and our 2011/2012 with the following results:

Michigamea Chapter Chief is Kyle B. from the Freeburg Troop 30.

Michigamea Vice Chapter Chief will be elected at the next meeting.

Michigamea Secretary is Kevin H. from Columbia troop 320.

We had 10 members, of which 8 were new members that participated in the September 1^st meeting.
